Team Cadillac finds challenges and rewards on Mosport International Raceway

After another exciting weekend of SCAA World Challenge Racing, the Houston Cadillac dealers are ready to join Team Cadillac on the track, but they will just have to wait. Team Cadillac drivers Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim stepped it up at Mosport International Raceway, and that’s bad news for the rest of the competition.
“Mosport is one of my favorite tracks, because it’s fast and a little bit dangerous,” said O’Connell, driver of the No. 3 Cadillac CTS-V. “It’s old school, and I like to go fast.”
After two street courses and the wild and wide-open Miller Motorsports in Utah, Mosport marks a return to the traditional road courses that both O’Connell and Pilgrim are experienced in. They earned top-five finishes at Miller, with O’Connell finishing fourth and Pilgrim fifth.
In race one at Mosport, O’Connell moved from third on the grid to second on the start, before surrendering the position to the Corvette. O’Connell then took back second place when Lindsay encountered mechanical problems. Team Cadillac finished second; the team’s best finish of the season.
In race two, O’Connell looked poised for a repeat but managed a third, but still impressive, place finish after a late race caution stopped him from hunting down the No. 45 Privacy Star Porsche 911 GT3.
The No. 8 CTS-V of Andy Pilgrim placed fifth in both races of the weekend, helping Team Cadillac secure second in the manufacturer’s points race behind Porsche.
