Taylor’s Gift Foundation began after 13 year-old Taylor Storch’s tragic skiing accident in 2010. Following this devastation, her parents made the choice to donate Taylor’s organs, in turn saving lives and giving the family a sense of hope. Their gift helped five people in a life changing way and laid the way for the creation of a foundation. Originally created to raise awareness of the need for organ donation registration, the foundation now strives to serve three pillars: Regift Life, Renew Health and Restore Families.

Taylor Paige Storch was given only 13 years of life before a tragic skiing accident March 15, 2010. There, in the middle of their family vacation in Colorado, her parents had an expected and heart wrenching decision to make. For them, the answer came quickly and easily. Taylor took every possibly opportunity during her life to give to others and it was clear that the right thing for her parents to do was to make the Gift of Life choice for her then as well.
Taylor’s gift of organ donation blessed the lives of five people. A 40 year-old mother is now able to enjoy her husband and two young boys since she was strengthened with Taylor’s healthy heart. A 34 year-old man is strong now and able to have an active life with Taylor’s kidney. A 50 year-old man received her kidney and her pancreas and, for the first time in years, is now living a dialysis-free life. A 19 year-old girl was blessed with Taylor’s cornea and the gift of sight. A two year-old who received Taylor’s liver has a long life before him.
Most of us don’t think about organ donation - and many think we might already be donors. Decisions at such a difficult time are often too much. Taylor’s Gift Foundation is working hard to make it easier to have these conversations and to confirm registration. They are doing this because the world needs more heroes.
Everson Walls signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, Everson earned NFL All Rookie team honors. During his 9 year tenure with the Cowboys, he was a three time All-Pro and earned four trips to the Pro Bowl. He was also the youngest player selected to the Dallas Cowboy Silver Anniversary team. In 1990 Walls joined the New York Giants and was instrumental in their Super Bowl XXV victory in 1991. Mike Renfro Was elected by the Houston Oilers in the fourth round of the 1978 NFL Draft. A 6'0", 186-lb. wide receiver from Texas Christian University, Renfro played in 10 National Football League seasons for the Oilers and Dallas Cowboys from 1978 to 1987. Late in the 3rd quarter, Renfro appeared to make a touchdown catch for the Houston Oilers to tie the 1979 AFC Championship game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, officials catch ruled it incomplete and the Steelers would go on to win 27-13. Replays clearly show that Renfro did get both feet inbounds with control of the football but unfortunately for the Oilers instant replay did not exist at that time.
Danieal Manning is a professional American football safety for the Houston Texans. He was drafted with the 42nd pick in the 2006 NFL Draft from Abilene Christian University, which made him the first player from a non-Division I school to be selected that year (as well as the second highest pick in the history of the school's football program).
Ryan Chase jump started his TX career with a three year stint at KDGE in Dallas. After this, Chase took a chance and joined Houston’s KRBE morning show, his dream job full of laughter each morning.
Dave comes to ESPN by way of Austin, where he was Austin's ESPN Radio talk show host for three years. He covered the back to back TX Rose Bowl teams. Catch him each week with Carl Dukes on “The Drive.”
By being an organ donor, we have the opportunity to make a difference, give others a new chance for a normal, healthy life, and give people back to their families and friends.
Organ donation is about living. It’s about being a hero. • There are about 110,000 people waiting for a life-saving organ transplant right now.• Every 10 minutes another name is added to the organ transplant waiting list. • An average of 18 people die each day waiting for an organ transplant. • Only 37% of people over 18 are registered to be a donor.
Many want to get involved and help make more heroes. Here’s how you can help, too:• Volunteer to work one of our many events.• Support the foundation financially as we develop programs, create a documentary from the donor’s prospective, and create a technology infrastructure. • Schedule a Taylor’s Gift speaking engagement at your organization, school, church, or company.
